Social Darwinism is colonialist thinking and was one of the main ideals that gave grounds for the creation of the White Australian Policy. Charles Darwin was the main discoverer of Evolution which was a concept in biology that attempts to explain how life-forms change over time. Social Darwinism directly declares that particular biological groups of human beings are naturally superior than other groups. This is somewhat connected to the term â€Å"survival of the fittest†, the evolutionary theory that some â€Å"races† were â€Å"fit† or â€Å"unfit† to survive some tests, making some beings better at surviving the environment they live in. This was what justified the view of how the British Colonialists determined the Indigenous as â€Å"biologically† inferior and were â€Å"unfit† to survive this environment and made the notion that they would eventually die out. For how long can this patient hold on to life and is the pain worthy it? It hence would be inhumane to watch as patients undergo a slow and painful death. Finally, the huge cost of maintaining life in the face of sure death cannot be rationalized. Why should we spend millions in taking care of people in a vegetative state while million others are dying due to lack of basic drugs? They talk of difficulties in regulation, sanctity of life and further state that sometimes miracles do happen.
